Staff Rules
1) You were chosen and/or accepted for a reason. That means that you showed example literacy, realism, and activity prior to becoming Staff. It is expected that you maintain this, and possibly even improve yourself. Simply because you have more 'authority' than the average member does not mean you may abuse this. No, it means you must now uphold and upkeep the responsibility of caring for this site and role-play.
2) Respect is a great thing. To receive respect from others is not a right that comes with your position, but something you will hopefully have earned beforehand. It is also something that you must treat every member here with in an equal manor of. I know at times a member might be causing trouble for you or others, but this does not give you the excuse to become snappy or harsh. Mods may issue warnings, but only Admins may issue punishment. In the future, when Gilded Vale has grown, we will have a Staff position where there will be those who will only report problems and give reminders, and nothing more. Please, if you feel you cannot handle a situation in the expected manor, remove yourself from the situation until an Admin is able to step in.
3) A Staff member with the account ability to modify threads may not do so without the permission of the thread creator; unless, of course, directed to by an Admin, or the thread shows distinctly vile or inappropriate content. In this case, you may only move the thread to a quarantine board in the Staff Office board to be viewed by an Admin, where you shall then pm the thread creator letting them know of the situation.
4) When issuing a warning or correction, please make sure your words' 'tone' is set in a proper manor. Sometimes mistakes are made without the offender's awareness, and at times rules are forgotten. Reminders should be given first and may be done in a public thread, but warnings and corrections should be done through Private Messages so as to not embarrass the member.
Staff Punishment
In the case that a Staff member has broken one of the Member rules, a strike shall most likely be given. Only two strikes are given to Staff before they are put on a parole; an amount of time where they are stripped of Staff authority and are given the opportunity to show they are still capable of following all rules.
In the case that a Staff member has broken one of the Staff rules, a strike may be issued or they may be directly placed on parole depending on the severity of the offense. If this happens again, chances are the Staff member will be demoted to a normal member where they will not commonly be contemplated on for future Staff positions.
In extreme cases where a Staff member has more than abused their authority; such as cyber bullying or sabotaging the site, they will be immediately banned and not accepted into this role-play again in the future.
Note to Members Looking to Become Staff
First of all, thank you. This note is not to scare you away from helping us, but simply to make sure you are aware of what would be expected. And, secondly, make sure you have read all rules on this site. If you find you may have trouble keeping up with all of these, then please reconsider you desire to be Staff.
Now, some of you may think you have much help to offer. That's great! But simply because you find yourself capable of helping doesn't mean you are capable of being Staff. Members are encouraged to offer help wherever and whenever; not because they wish to be Staff, but because they would like to see this role-play succeed in every aspect. For this we are thankful and will give credit wherever it is due.
