These rules are here to be followed by all members registered to this site. Failure to adhere to such rules will result in some form of punishment, be it a simple warning or temporary to permanent ban.
2) I can't really say that we are a realistic role-play forum, but we do follow realistic equine behavior. Emotions are shown mostly through body language accompanied by some facial expressions. The herd structure is much the same as it would be in nature, except we do allow individual mated pairs and multiple stallions to one herd. But eating, sleeping, walking, and general living are just like that of a real horse.
3) Please keep a low down on the cussing/swearing. If you must curse, please state so at the beginning of your post. No human curses in the role-play. Your character may 'curse', but keep it within the equine world of knowledge. Absolutely no perverse language, period. If you feel the 'dire need' to role-play such content, pm each other so no one else has to turn red. If I catch it in public rp threads, the involved members will be under quarantine.
4) Active members make an active role-play. Just because no one's on at the moment of you logging on doesn't mean it's going to be dead all day. If a role-play thread is waiting your reply, go ahead and post. One of the great things about a forum role-play is that you all don't need to be present to role-play with one another.
5) "Respect is earned and not given." Both true and false. "In order to gain respect, one must first respect others." Totally true. Please, respect fellow members. If we all show a little bit of kindness, then there's a lot to go around.
6) Drama, drama, drama. A good role-play isn't complete without a little drama, right? But what about too much drama? Then it's just a pain in the tail lights. If you want to be 'exciting', go ahead. But please keep things from getting too out of hand. Also, keep in mind the more extreme things will require Admin permission.
7) Unfortunately we do have a character limit. Though, only when first joining. When a new member joins, they are allotted up to three (3) characters. After a period of them being with us, and having shown adequate activity, their limit will increase. Basically, one can have a high number of characters as long as they can keep ALL characters active.
8) Every month that passes in reality is equal to a season in the role-play. Therefore, four months in real life is an entire year in here. All ages must progress at the same rate, however, it doesn't have to be exact. You are allowed to age a little quicker, or slower, than others around you. Although, you will not be allowed to go back in time in any case unless you have received permission from an Admin.
9) Mini-modding; the eternal destroyer of role-play forums. I have seen so many wonderful and truly amazing role-plays fall to their knees because of mini-modding and all of its children. To set the record straight, mini-modding is when a common member, or a Staff member without such permission, tries to control another member(s). No, I don't mean friendly reminders, or even simple corrections, but harsh words and controlling attitudes. Don't take matters into your own hands. If another member is breaking a rule, however many, and you have already reminded them, don't sit there and make them understand. Let it go until a Mod., Staff, or Admin gets on and pm them. If you feel that certain Staff are not dealing with the situation as need be, one of the other Admins explaining your concern and we will deal with the problem accordingly.
10) Do not ask to be staff. It's just annoying if anything, really, when many people ask to be Staff simply so they can have "authority". If we are ever in need of staff, we will personally search them out. You do not need to be staff in order to help create a better site. We are always looking for members' suggestions and pointers.
11) One thing I must say is that since the Island is so isolated from the rest of the world and the herds have had years of inbreeding with no current outside influence, all breeds have become one. Much like that of the mustang, only more so. Ones' character may attain attributes of a single breed, such as the bulky size and slight feathering of a Clydesdale or the lean and slim form of an Arab. But they cannot 'be' a breed of horse.
1) Power-playing is when your character holds an unrealistic amount of power, or has extremely strong abilities. God-modding is when a person includes another person's character to the point of controlling them. Neither of these things is allowed, nor are they tolerated. If you are unsure whether you or another member is in offense of this rule, please ask us.
2) It is very annoying when someone becomes so impatient while waiting for another member to post that they go ahead and post again. Please, keeping a specific order in role-play threads is best, though not always necessary. All we ask is that you make sure not to skip another person when role-playing.
3) Please, please, please respect another members choice of character. If there is a character that you personally do not like, don't take your hard feelings out on the caretaker. Let the other member know of your feelings in a mature and open minded manner if you must. You might just find that the person on the other side of the screen is a really fun and happy being who just decided to try their hand at a grumpy character. There is a fine line between IC and OOC, let's be sure to keep it.
4) If there is one thing that sparks more arguments than anything else it is the killing of characters. Either your own, or someone else. Do not kill another person's character without their consent. To do so will result in the other member choosing to follow or ignore your death blow(s), as well as a good telling-off. If you wish to kill off your own character, you must first have a reason, and possibly permission form a Mod./Staff member, before doing so. Simple boredom is not a good enough reason. And though an Admin or Mod. may approve to a character swap, this will only be done rarely, so please make the right choice in characters.
5) You may dodge blows about 1/4 of the time. If you have ever watched 'UFC' or some other fight show, you will find that only about 1/8 of the blows are actually dodged or are 'glancing' blows. The only time that you may block or dodge more than the set percentage is if you are fighting defensively. If it is offensively, then you better be takin' as much as you're givin'.
There will be a 'three strikes' system for lesser offenses. After the three strikes, the member in offense will be placed into 'quarantine' in which they will no longer have access to the rp threads until a further investigation can be placed to see why they keep failing to obey the set rules. After two quarantines, the offending member will be subject to permanent banning from the site and all accounts linked to them will be deleted.
In most cases a warning or reminder shall be issued first, as we understand mistakes may happen. However, if the member has not only broken a rule, but has also caused any form of 'harm' to another member or the site in an obvious manor, a strike will be given without warning. When a warning or strike is issued, the member will receive a PM from an Admin explaining what is was they had done to earn such and what they should do next time to avoid breaking that same rule again.
Please keep in mind that a reminder from a well meaning member is equal to a reminder from Staff. They have the same effect and, therefore, hold the same weight.
Site Wide
1) Yes my dear friends, we are a literate role-play forum. No, we are not some stuck up society of English Literature nerds trying to 'show off'. We do ask that you try to post at least two paragraphs per role-pay post. If you can do more, then by all means please do. If you have a brain fart, that's okay, too. Just try to post an average of two paragraphs per post. Also, if you decide to expand your vocabulary, make sure that the words you are using are being used correctly. I have come across some really good role-players in the fact that they can post multiple paragraphs, but their vocabulary is so off you couldn't sound more stupid. Please, learn the meaning of a word before using it.2) I can't really say that we are a realistic role-play forum, but we do follow realistic equine behavior.
